Tesla Recalls Vehicles
Yes, you are hearing right that Tesla issues massive recall of more than 2 million vehicles over autopilot concerns. All the tesla vehicles of these models 2012-2023 Model S, 2016-2013 Model X, 2017-2023 Model3 and 2020-2023 Model Y comes under this recalling process.
According to Marlene Lenthang Tesla is recalling more than 2 million vehicles, it is like all the tesla cars in U.S. will be recall for a safety system that is introduced by tesla. After some investigation found that the tesla car's autopilot safety system was not sufficient to prevent driver misuse.
There is a feature in Tesla that is called Autosteer, It maintains a set speed or a set distance, detects lane marking and the presence of other vehicles on the road. Tesla comes with this feature but company warns the drivers that 'hands always should remain on the steering wheel and always prepared to take immediate action. Most of the time drivers does not care about this warning due to this NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) first investigated 11 incident involving Tesla's Autosteer in August 2021.
Tesla cooperated and scheduled several meeting with the agency over the last two years. The investigation found that in certain circumstances with Autosteer, the driver does not maintain the responsibilities. After seeing this carelessness Tesla recalling the more than 2 million vehicles in U.S. According to the reports as of Dec. 14 tesla has identified 9 warranty claims received between July 13, 2021 and Sep. 17, 2023. These claims may be related to Autosteer issue.
According to the documents those was posted on Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators say that the company will send out a software update to fix the problems. And the software update includes additional controls and alerts to further encourage the driver to their continuous driving responsibilities. The Software update was sent to certain affected vehicles on Tuesday, with the rest getting it at a later date. As per the documents agency investigators met with Tesla starting in Oct. to explain tentative conclusions about the fixing of this monitoring system, but Tesla was not agree with the agency's engineers analysis but now agreed to recall on Dec. 5 in an effort to resolve the investigation.
